About Brainstorms Science Discovery Center
Big ideas start with little brainstorms
Brainstorms creates hands on discovery experiences for children, families and curious minds of all ages. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building a permanent science discovery center downtown.
Our story
New Port Richey has never had a permanent science discovery center. Brainstorms is building one, a place where kids, families and curious adults can roll up their sleeves and do science.
We're not waiting for a building to get started. Today, Brainstorms serves the community through popup exhibits, library programs and public events across Pasco County. Those programs are our mission already in action.
Every program is built on the same idea. Discovery happens when we experiment, build, question and try again.
And we're inviting the whole community to help build what comes next.

A future home for discovery
Brainstorms has proposed the rehabilitation and activation of the historic Main & Bank Building downtown as a possible home for a permanent science discovery center. Final design and location remain subject to planning, funding and approval.
The Center is planned as a community gathering place as much as a museum, with interactive exhibits and flexible spaces for classes and community programs.
Explore the Future CenterWhat we believe
Discover Curiosity
Every exhibit and program starts with a question worth asking. We give curious minds the space to wonder, tinker and find out for themselves.
Explore Innovation
From build challenges to messy experiments, we connect science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics in learning you can get your hands on.
Ignite Community
We're built by and for the people of Pasco County. We partner with libraries, schools and neighbors to bring STEAM to everyone.
Board of Directors
Brainstorms is led by a volunteer Board of neighbors, educators and community leaders. Our full board list is coming soon.
Powered by our community
Local businesses and families keep our programs affordable for every kid. Yours could be first.
Why a science center?
In 2024 alone, science engagement organizations worldwide welcomed an estimated 115.8 million visits, and 9 in 10 offer dedicated programs for students and teachers.* New Port Richey deserves one of its own.
